Introduction of the program
The field of dermatology, including aesthetic dermatology and dermatologic surgery, has a rapidly expanding scope in Nepal. As awareness about skin health increases, more people are seeking medical attention for a variety of skin conditions, ranging from acne and eczema to chronic conditions like psoriasis. This has led to a rising demand for dermatology services, not only in urban centers but also in rural areas.
Aesthetic dermatology, which addresses cosmetic concerns such as wrinkles, pigmentation, and hair loss, is gaining considerable traction, with many people opting for procedures to improve their appearance. Alongside this, dermatologic surgery is advancing, with techniques for anti-aging treatments, mole excisions, and treatments for scarring becoming more common. The availability of modern technologies and skilled professionals is making these treatments more accessible.
As Nepal’s healthcare infrastructure continues to develop, the demand for specialized dermatology services is growing, creating abundant opportunities for both clinical practice and cosmetic dermatology. This ongoing trend highlights the critical role dermatology plays in improving overall health and well-being, while also enhancing the aesthetic quality of life for many individuals.
